PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply measure the pupillary distance for the right eye and the left eye in no contact by photographing anterior sections illuminated by an illumination light source with an image pickup means, recognizing the nasal crest position from the image, and obtaining the pupillary distance. SOLUTION: This device measures the refraction of both eyes to be checked and stores their lateral positions. When a measurement section case is located at the middle of both eyes while a television monitor 9 is observed, an alignment mark disappears, and marks M are displayed. The nasal crest N is vertically located near illumination light and is brightly displayed, portions S on both sides are inclined, reflected light from them is small, and they are displayed slightly dark. When a measurement button is pressed with the dark portions S matched with the marks M, their positions are detected, and the pupillary distance for the right eye and left eye is calculated based on the distance from the previously measured positions of both eyes and is displayed and stored.
