PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a food produced by using Koto-sugi (a tree of the family Taxaceae, native to Yunnan Province, China, or the like) as a main raw material and incorporated with Ubai (baked plum fruit), or the like, known as a Chinese herb drug effective for the treatment and prevention of diabetes. SOLUTION: The trunk of Koto-sugi is powdered to 20-60 μm diameter in a vacuum of 60-220 kg/cm2 and mixed with powder of Ubai, Kukoshi (fruit of Lycium chinense), Sanshuyu (fruit of Euodia ruticarpa), Shajin (rhizome of Adenophora triphylla), Ougiyo (leaf of Astragalus huantchy) and San-yaku (rhizome of Dioscorea opposita) and the mixture is dried, packed in a paper bag and shipped. As an alternative, the trunk of Koto-sugi is powdered to 20-60 μm diameter in a vacuum of 60-220 kg/cm2, separately dried powder of Ubai, Kukoshi, Sanshuyu, Shajin, Ougiyo and San-yaku is boiled in water to obtain a concentrated liquid, the liquid is added to the Koto-sugi powder, stirred and powdered by dry-free process and the mixture is added with an excipient and tableted. As another alternative, the trunk of Koto-sugi is powdered to 20-60 μm diameter in a vacuum of 60-220 kg/cm2, added with a concentrated liquid of Ubai, Kukoshi, Sanshuyu, Shajin, Ougiyo and San-yaku and converted into an easily drinkable product by the addition of syrup or honey. |
