PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively maintaining an ink jet type print head without separating the print head from a printer carriage. SOLUTION: A controlled pressure difference is generated between both ends of a nozzle plate of a print head, thereby forming a controlled ink buildup 239 outside the nozzle plate. Ink is jetted into the ink buildup 239 through a nozzle of the print head. The ink buildup 239 is then returned into the print head through the nozzle. Alternatively, the ink buildup 239 is formed, held for a predetermined time and drawn into the print head without jetting ink from the nozzle. |
