摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote the contact of organic compounds suspended in fluid with photocatalytically functional layers and to ensure high purifying performance by arranging photocatalyst members which intersect the moving direction of the fluid and a radiating means which radiates excitation light on the photocatalyst members in a treating vessel connected to a fluid treating unit. SOLUTION: A photocatalyst unit 1 has a cylindrical treating vessel 2 vertically disposed on a base and tilted discoid permeation contact type photocatalyst members 3 housed in the treating vessel 2. Polluted air freed of coarse foreign matter in a purifying unit flows in the treating vessel 2 from an inflow hole 4 and comes in contact with the photocatalyst members 3 and various compounds in the polluted air are subjected to oxidation decomposition with the photocatalyst members 3 activated by UV radiated from an excitation arc tube 7. The purified air flows out from an outflow hole 5. Since the photocatalyst members 3 are arranged at an angle to the excitation arc tube 7, they can uniformly receive a large quantity of UV and can reliably exhibit photocatalytic activity.
