The foot part (20) of the instrument comprises a finger-shaped body with a cross-sectional shape designed to enable it to be passed through the hole initially made in the skin patch. The cutting device (30) is positioned above the finger. The foot part of the instrument is used to support at least part of the skin patch. A spindle protruding from the top side of the foot part is inserted into the hole in the skin patch. A cutting device is coupled to the spindle and used to cut the skin around it. The foot part and cutting device can be moved parallel to the spindle.
