PURPOSE: A method for producing a soundproof member is provided to enhance fire resistance in a fire by dropping flammability, to lengthen the life span by stiffening the hardness of a surface layer and tensile strength and to restrain decolorization. CONSTITUTION: A soundproof member is produced by the following process. Such materials as poly propylene glycol, toluene diisocyanate, methylene chloride, asphalt and amine are mixed with each other and are agitated. Sponge is formed into fixed and mobile soundproof sponge. Corrugated protrusions of the sponge are impregnated in the materials. The sponge is soaked in fine sand and yellow earth powder, and then, dried by the reaction with the moisture contained in the air. Oilpaper and a lower plate are attached onto the sponge. The fixed and mobile soundproof sponge is cut lengthwise and the outside of the sponge is finished. The soundproof member has fire resistance and prevents discharge of noxious gas. According to the even or uneven corrugated protrusions, echo is minimized. Therefore, the soundproof member is useful for a noise preventing element of a vehicle.
