The process involves the elimination of encrusted sulfate and pyrosulfate deposits on heating elements resulting from the combustion of heavy fuels or carbon containing sulfur. The salts are melted and evacuated from the system. A process for the elimination of salts, particularly ammonium sulfate and pyrosulfate, agglomerated on elements of a thermal installation resulting from the combustion of a sulfur-containing fuel. This is achieved by an increase in thermal energy as direct and/or latent heat necessary to melt the deposits, which are then recovered and evacuated. The operation is carried out without the need for a shut-down of the installation. An Independent claim is also included for an installation to which this is applicable.
