<p>The invention concerns a two-dimensional detector of ionising radiation and a method for making such a detector. Said detector comprises a block (2) formed from a material emitting secondary particles by interacting with the incident ionising radiation (9) whereof the energy is not less than 100 keV. The block has a thickness not less than one tenth of the mean free path of the particles constituting the incident radiation in the material. The block is traversed by parallel slots (14) which are filled with a fluid medium capable of interacting with the secondary particles to produce other particles representing the radiation. The method for making said detector consists in forming the block, then the slots for example by water jet cutting, electric discharge machining or unwinding stretched yarn. The invention is useful in radiography, for example.</p> |
