The invention relates to a method and a radio communication system for voice transmission, especially for digital mobile communication systems such as GSM or UMTS. According to the inventive method, the bit rate of a transmission channel is distributed between a voice coder and a channel coder depending on the current conditions of the transmission channel and/or the requirements of the users.
