The vehicle anti-theft device based on a receiver (4) and a control device (2). The control device is used to evaluate code signals and for comparing their inherent code information with expected desired code information. The portable radio type code transmitter has a measuring device which measures location- specific, physical magnitudes. A similar measuring device is arranged in the vehicle, and a safety device is only released or triggered when the physical values obtained by reception from the code transmitter and the physical magnitudes measured in the vehicle at least largely coincide. The measuring device (18) can be an earth magnetic field sensor, temperature sensor, environmental brightness sensor or position detector. The measured values are transmitted via an optical link.
