PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the low costs and high security of electronic equipment. SOLUTION: In this portable electronic device key system, a reading device is arranged in the part of electronic equipment, and for example, a transponder expressed as a key fob or a credit card can be brought within the reading range of the reading device. In this case, the same digital signature is programmed in the memories of the electronic equipment part and the transponder in a manufacturing stage. The reading device transmits challenge to the transponder, and recognizes the transmitted challenge, and waits for a response from the transponder according to the same digital signature as that of the transponder. The transponder receives the challenge, and moves the challenge on the digital signature stored inside, and returns the response to the reading device. At the time of receiving the expected response, the reading device transmits an operation for turning on the electronic part. |
