PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pulp molded article, making it possible to easily produce the molded article having a desired shape, and to provide a mold for producing the pulp molded article. SOLUTION: This method for producing a pulp molded article 6 comprises surrounding the outer periphery of a pulp layer 4 formed on the surface of a paper-making mold 1 with a pair of split molds 5, 5, expanding the paper-making mold 1 to press the pulp layer 4 to the inner surface of a cavity formed on the insides of the split molds 5, 5, thus transferring the inner surface pattern of the cavity to the pulp layer 4, and then heating and drying the pulp layer 4 in the pressed state to produce the pulp molded article 6. The pair of shape- imparting split molds 5, 5 are matched to each other to form the cavity having the shape corresponding to the outer shape of the molded article to be molded.
