PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent data exceeding a previously determined reference value from flowing on a network at the time of transmitting an electronic(e) mail. SOLUTION: When a file of a size exceeding the previously determined reference value is attached to an email to be transmitted, a substitutive file processed to a file size smaller than the reference value is attached to the email instead of the original file and the email including the substitutive file is transmitted. Before transmission, a list of processing methods capable of processing the original file to a file size smaller than the reference value is displayed and one of the processing methods is selected.
