METHOD OF FORMING THERMOPLASTIC SUPPORT COVERED WITH BARRIER FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a gas barrier film by polymerizing the acrylate monomers within an acrylate monomer composition film provided on the surface of an uncovered thermoplastic support to which heat treatment or the like is applied, so as to make a bridged acrylate layer, and stacking an oxygen barrier layer thereon. SOLUTION: After application of treatment such as heat treatment, reactive plasma treatment, cooling treatment, etc., to an uncovered thermoplastic support, an acrylate monomer composition film is provided on the surface of the support, and the acrylate monomers within this film are polymerized to form a bridged acrylate layer. Next, a layer consisting of oxygen barrier material is stacked on the bridged acrylate layer to form a thermoplastic support covered with a barrier film. The acrylate layer is made by condensing monomers on the support as a monomer film after evaporation of the acrylate monomers having the quantity of molecules of, preferably, 200-400.
