PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve thermal shock resistance and to enhance corrosion resistance to molten slag by using a specific spinel-type compound refractory material and ceramic fiber as constituent materials of a melting section member to be used inside a melting furnace for heating ash obtained through combustion of a waste material to produce molten slag. SOLUTION: This melting section member is used for forming the inner surface of a melting furnace in which ash obtained by combusting a waste material such as municipal solid waste is heated to produce molten slag, and consists of a spinel-type compound refractory material and ceramic fiber, wherein: the spinel-type compound is represented by the formula: (Mg1-αFeα)β(Cr1-γ-δAlγFeδ)2O4 (wherein: 0<=α<=1; 0.714<=β<=1; 0<=γ; 0<=δ; and 0<=γ+δ<0.5); and as the ceramic fiber, appropriate fiber made of zirconia, alumina, alumina-silica, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, or the like other than silica, can be used. Thus, the penetration of molten slag into the refractory material can be inhibited from being caused and the mass transfer rate within a slag boundary layer in contact with the refractory material can be reduced. |
