ARRAY WAVEGUIDE GRATING TYPE WAVELENGTH TUNABLE FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength tunable filter having a wide tunable wavelength range while suppressing increase in the cost to min. SOLUTION: A silicon substrate 11 with a silicone polymer waveguide AWG 12 formed is mounted on a Peltier element type temp. controller 13 so that the output wavelength of AWG 12 is controlled by controlling the temp. by the temp. controller 13. Moreover, two output ports having different tunable wavelength ranges are connected through optical fibers 15, 16 to an 2×1 optical switch 14 so that the port can be switched. Thus, the tunable wavelength range can be practically increased.
