PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device wherein, related to a scale in a specified region on a map, a deformed map image magnified compared to the map's reference scale is displayed. SOLUTION: With the use of a current position data detected by GPS unit under a deformed map selection command from a control command input unit and a deformed map data from a map database, a deformed map display image 34 comprising a current position mark 35 is displayed on a display 10 with the scale of a highland holiday resort area 30 magnified compared to the map's deference scale. In other region of the map, the scale is linearly adjusted, from the reference scale to a magnified scale, up to the highland holiday resort area 30, while in the magnified highland holiday resort area 30, the relative position among a road, shop, etc., is displayed with a clear sense of distance, with required sightseeing character information displayed at high information density while corresponding to a shop and hotel. As a whole deformed map image 34, adjustment in scale between the highland holiday resort area 30 and a peripheral area provides natural display, allowing observation of the display 10 with no visual discomfort for enjoyment in sightseeing and refreshment. |
