A composite roof tile which has a cementitious layer (38) to which is bonded by an adhesive (34) a surface element (30). Preferably the adhesive (34) is either a cold quick-set thermosetting or thermoplatics adhesive or chosen from a heat activated, alkali activated or moisture curing adhesive. The surface element (30) may in use form the underside or upperside of the tile and can be of unitary or multi-part moulding. The surface element (34) may have side lock means (50, 54, fig 4, not shown), head lap means, tile fixing means (84, fig 11, not shown) or tile location features and weather bars. The element (34) can be formed from ceramics, glass or plastic and if plastic, be of a thickness between 25 žm to 7mm. |
