The two sleeves (20,21) of the connection can have two areas in axial tandem and the other sleeve areas (22,23) facing away from each other take the confronting parts of the exhaust pipe elements as hollow cylinders. The confronting parts (26,27) of the sleeve form concentric ball sectors. The clamps (24,25,50) radially clamp or reduce one sleeve and ball area (25,27). One sleeve has two superposed layers (28,29,38,39) extending lengthways as against the second sleeve whose two concentric layers have peripherally offset slots. The clamps encircle the sleeves in the areas facing away from one another (22,23) and in the ball region and the interior of the ball sector (27) include a support ring (52) arranged in the axial length of the clamp (50). The clamp collars (24,25,50) are formed by the sleeves and nontwistably locked to the sleeves by their positive connection.
