Electrode comprises a collector having a polarizable material layer consisting of activated charcoal, conducting auxiliary aid and a mixture of polytetrafluoroethylene and hydroxyalkylcellulose as binder. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a process for the production of the electrode comprising dispersing activated charcoal and conducting auxiliary aid in an aqueous medium containing polytetrafluoroethylene and hydroxyalkylcellulose, applying to the collector, and drying; and (b) a capacitor comprising a pair of electrodes (1, 2), each having a collector and a layer of activated charcoal, conducting auxiliary aid and a mixture of polytetrafluoroethylene and hydroxyalkylcellulose as binder, a separator arranged between the pair of electrodes, and an organic liquid electrolyte impregnating the electrodes and the separator, and a container (5) containing the above elements.
