PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavating machine which can improve the recovery percentage of excavated earth and sand while taking advantage of continuous workability of the machine by an auger screw. SOLUTION: An auger screw 2 having a screw portion 4 formed on almost the entire length or only at the front end of an auger shaft 3 is hung from and connected to an auger machine 1 which is vertically movable along a leader. A cylindrical casing 7 for covering the auger screw 2 is attached to the same in a manner being axially detachable, and a scraper 8 which is slidably supported in a spiral direction with respect to blades 4a of the screw portion 4 is arranged at an upper end of the casing 7. Further, an excavating blade 9 is arranged at a lower end of the casing 7, and in order to achieve united rotation of the casing 7 and the auger screw 2 in an auger rotating direction, a stopper 10 for blocking relative rotation of the casing 7 with respect to the auger screw 2 is provided.
