PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize easy penetration of a resin without deformation and destruction of wood cells or without employing complicated and large-scaled equipments in a method for improving the surface hardness, durability, dimensional stability or the like of a wood by penetrating the resin in a wooden veneer. SOLUTION: A wooden veneer 3, which is immersed in a resin liquid 1 prepared by melting a synthetic resin in an inorganic solvent so as to penetrate the resin liquid 1 in the cells of the wooden veneer 3, is compressed with revolving rollers 4 and 5 after being pulled up out of the resin liquid and then immersed again in the resin liquid 1. The wooden veneer 3 is immersed in the resin liquid 1 at a standstill so as to penetrate a synthetic resin through a capillary pressure action in a large number of micropores existing in the cells and micro-gaps between the cells.
