<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable recording data with tape feeding speed being suitable for reservation recording without inputting externally residual quantity of a tape and information of a reserved program when recording a program is reserved. SOLUTION: A program information extractor 1 extracts rate information of each data stream out of input data. Encoded data is divided into packets of the prescribed bit numbers by an error correction encoder 3, while an error correction code is added. Data to which an error correction code is added is supplied to a modulator 4 in the prescribed order, modulation is performed, and the data is recorded to a recording head 6. A system controller 2 performs selection-control so that tape feeding speed is made to required and sufficient speed by rate information sent from the program information extractor 1 through a tape feeding speed controller 7. A tape residual quantity measuring device 8 measures the present residual quantity of a loaded tape. Estimated residual quantity is calculated at the time of recording a program from selected recording speed and measured present residual quantity and displayed to the user.</p> |
