The device comprises an unmanned moving trolley (8) and a collection device for collecting dirt lying on the stable floor (35) and a storage tank (4) for temporarily storing the dirt. The collection device comprises a receptacle (24) and a brush (14) for sweeping dirt lying on the stable floor into the receptacle. The trolley comprises a loading device (26,27) for displacing the collected dirt to the storage tank, and an unloading device (9) for automatically emptying the storage tank. The trolley also comprises a metering device (19,20) for adding chemical and/or biologically active substances to the collected dirt. An Independent claim is also included for the method of automatically cleaning a shed floor.
