PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve secrecy in a step of initializing a chip card in a method of exchanging at least one secrecy between a processing station and a chip card. SOLUTION: In a step of initializing a chip card, at least one secret initial value is exchanged between a processing station S and a chip card CC. In initialization of a conventional chip card, an initial value, for example a key, is transmitted from the processing station and stored therein. Since this key is transmitted in plaintext, there occurs a problem of secrecy. According to this method, problem of secrecy is solved by using a part of the key exchanged between the processing station and the chip, and using only a key created from the part and processed by the chip card CC and the processing station S. |
