<p>A hinge assembly (30) mounts a hard tonneau cover (26) on a vehicle having a storage area. The assembly (30) has a moveable hinge portion (32) adapted mounting on the tonneau cover and a stationary hinge portion (34) adapted for mounting to the vehicle. A guided member (48) co-acts with a guiding member (40, 42) for pivotally mounting the tonneau cover (26) to the vehicle about an axis of rotation between a closed position. The guiding member (40, 42) positions the axis of rotation of the tonneau cover (26) forwardly of an upper edge of the storage area allowing the forward edge of the tonneau cover to lift thereby minimizing damage to the peripheral seal (36).</p> |
