PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide drive device for a press machine, whose precision of the bottom dead point of the slide even in the sudden change of an operation/ stop, is satisfactory and stable, and in which a dynamic balance is obtained. SOLUTION: Two plunger guides 6 are erected on the front surface of the center of a slide 3, and the top end parts and the bottom end parts of these are freely movably up and down guided by a crown part 2A. In the upper part of a crank shaft 7, a connecting block 10 connecting the plunger rods 6 and the first eccentric part of the crank shaft 7, are connected by a connecting rod 11 for slide drive. In the lower part of the crank shaft 7, a balance weight 12 provided freely movably up and down on the plunger rods 6 and a second eccentric part whose phase is different from that of the first eccentric part 7 by 180 deg., are connected by a connecting rod 13 for driving the balance weight, and the dynamic balance of a slide 3 part is kept. By cancelling elongation caused by the friction heat of the connecting rod 11 for driving slide and the plunger rods 6, the precision of the bottom dead point of the slide 3 is allowed to stabilize satisfactorily.
