PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat discarded Japanese apricot seeds and to use all the obtained products efficiently as valuable substances by a method in which the seeds are (semi) dried, the seed surfaces are abraded to remove residual flesh adherent to the surfaces, the seed are crushed to be separated into shells and contents. SOLUTION: Japanese apricot seeds with most of flesh removed are collected, semidried by a drier or in the sun, and charged into a tubular drum mixer of about 60 cm radius installed slantingly, the mixer is rotated, and the residual flesh 1 adherent to the surfaces of the seeds is removed by the abrasion of the surfaces by the frictional heat. The drying is continued with the mixer rotated, the seeds, after being pushed into the depth by being pushed by inside spiral blades, are discharged from the outside, and the abraded seeds are crushed by a crusher to be separated into the shells and the contents. |
