PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to set and preserve his/her peculiar environment information even when utilizing a set-top box(STB), which does not have any storage device excepting a primary storage device, as a terminal for domestic use. SOLUTION: This two-way communication system is provided with a data base 2 for storing the environment information corresponding to each of more than one STB 4 and the STB is provided with an environment authoring means 14 for setting the initial environment of the STB on the basis of the environment information and capable of transmitting new environment information to a server 1 when the environment of the STB is changed. The server is provided with an environment information retrieving and preserving means 25 writing/ reading the environment information to the data base, reading the environment information out of the data base, transmitting it to the STB and, when new environment information is received, updating corresponding environment information in the data base. |
