CONJUGATE FIBER, COMBINED FILAMENT YARN AND WOVEN OR KNITTED FABRIC

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a conjugate fiber and a combined filament yarn excellent in a soft feeling and color developing properties and capable of providing a woven or a knitted fabric having biodegradability and the woven or knitted fabric using the conjugate fiber or the combined filament yarn. SOLUTION: This conjugate fiber is an island-in-sea type conjugate fiber containing a thermoplastic polymer having solubility in hot water as a sea component and a polyester consisting essentially of an aliphatic polyester having >=130 deg.C melting, point as an island component and the compounding ratio of he sea component/island component is (10/90) to (50/50). The single fiber fineness of the island component after removing the sea component is 0.01-1 dtex. The conjugate fiber and the combined filament yarn are formed into a woven or a knitted fabric, then treated with hot water and converted into an ultrafine state.
