PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the performance of a pneumatic impact hammer without increasing the weight and reaction force, reduce the noise, and heighten the safety. SOLUTION: A piston hammer 1 in a cylinder 2 is moved toward a rear cover 4 by a vacuum fed from the rear cover 4, and a compressed air is fed to flow in to cause movement toward a front cover 3 in acceleration, and a chisel 5 is strucken to generate a hammering force. Because the cylinder 2 can be set to any length, a strong striking force can be generated by setting the cylinder length and piston hammer diameter appropriately while the weight remains light, and the noise can be reduced and the safety be heightened.
