PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely guarantee responsiveness and sureness of valve actuation property of variable control while minimizing oil pump capacity shared by a cam switching type of a first valve actuation property variable mechanism and a cam phase variable type of a second valve actuation property variable mechanism in a variable valve gear for an internal combustion engine equipped with these two mechanisms. SOLUTION: When a first valve actuation property variable mechanism V1 establishes fast valve timing by hydraulic power provided from a first hydraulic control valve 63, if a cam phase of a second valve actuation property variable mechanism V2 is set to a maximum delay angle by a second hydraulic control valve 64, hydraulic power from an oil pump 61 is stopped by setting the second hydraulic control valve 64 to neutral and the hydraulic power consumption by the second valve actuation property variable mechanism V2 is prevented by blocking a lead angle chamber and a delay angle chamber in the second valve actuation property variable mechanism V2 to secure hydraulic power provided to the first valve actuation property variable mechanism V1.
