PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure which is capable of facilitating handling and decreasing product defects by changing the shape of transparent substrates and suppressing the overflow of a transparent adhesive in the case of surface-to-surface adhesion of the transparent substrates by using the transparent adhesive to the outside surfaces of the transparent substrates constituting an electro-optic panel. SOLUTION: The end faces of the transparent substrates 31 and 32 are all arranged on the side outer than the end faces of an element substrate 11 and a counter substrate 12 and hold an adhesive part 30a therebetween, by which a difference in level is formed. Consequently, if the protruding quantity of the transparent adhesive is confined within a range of the certain extent when the element substrate 11 and the transparent substrate 31 and the counter substrate 12 and the transparent substrate 32 are subjected to surface-to-surface adhesion by the transparent adhesive 30 as described above, the transparent adhesive 30 is held in the portion of the difference in level described above even if part thereof protrudes outside from the adhesive surfaces. The spreading of the transparent adhesive 30 beyond the portion described above may be prevented. Further, at least one periphery of the transparent substrates 31 and 32 is provided with a light shielding member 55, by which the light intruding diagonally to the panel from the periphery of the panel may be shielded.
