PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the starting revolution of an alternator. SOLUTION: In an alternator for a vehicle which is equipped with rotor iron cores 71 and 72, having p pairs of NS magnetic poles, an armature winding 31 constituting m phases of winding, and an armature iron core 32 having a plurality of slots for retaining the armature winding 31, conductors constituting the armature winding are arranged inside and outside each slot, and the conductors stored by two pieces each in n pieces (n is a natural number >=3) adjacent slots are connected with one another in series to form one phase of winding. According to this, since two pieces of conductors are arranged in each slot and additionally the conductors within three or more pieces of adjacent slots are connected with one another, the apparent number of turns (2n turn/ phase) increases, and the start-up revolution can be lowered.
