PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter which can remove harmful substances in a fluid comprising gas, liquid, and others by photocatalytic properties, can be produced simply, and has good strength and durability by installing fibrous material having pbotocatalytic properties. SOLUTION: A fibrous material having photocatalytic properties is installed to form a filter, which can be formed from the fibrous material having photocatalytic properties, and inorganic fibers, organic fibers, or the mixture of them. The filter can also be formed from the fibrous material having photocatalytic properties and a binder or porous material. As the fibrous material having photocatalytic properties, for example, a fibrous material of titanium oxide which has photocatalytic properties by itself and fibrous shape such as needle-shape is preferable. The crystal form of the titanium oxide is not restricted, and amorphous titanium oxide can be used. A binder having photocatalytic properties such as titania sol and a binder contributing to hydrophilicity such as silica sol are preferable as the binder. |
