摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device having no irregular display due to disturbance in alignment by controlling the width of a light-shielding region near a spacer to be larger than in other part of the light-shielding region along its longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: A spacer 10 is formed as overlapped with signal lines such as gate lines 2 and drain lines 3. The black matrix BM formed along the signal lines has large width near the spacer 10. Namely, the black matrix BM covering the spacer 10 has a pattern of a profile with a certain radius from the spacer 10 as a center, near the spacer 10. It this case, the rubbing direction of the alignment layer is along the signal lines, and usually, disturbance in alignment due to the spacer 10 in the rubbing treatment is covered by the black matrix itself. However, the region where the alignment disturbance occurs may increase, so that this problem is preliminarily avoided by this method.</p>
