PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program change method capable of easily changing an application program at an excellent timing without going over to a place where a monitoring device is installed. SOLUTION: A new application program of an elevator monitoring device 2 and the change time are specified from a center device 1 connected through a telephone line 4. The elevator monitoring device 2 which receives them preserves them in a new program area 5c and a RAM 7, copies a present program to an old program area 5d, changes to the new application program inside the new program area 5c upon reaching the change time thereafter, and in the case of failing, returns to the present application program in the old program area 5d.
