PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving image reproducing device capable of reproducing a moving image for a long period without regard to a memory capacity. SOLUTION: When a moving image reproducing mode is set, compressed image data stored in the desired AVI(audio video interactive) file of a memory card 36 is read intermittently by each frame. Compressed image data for the portion of one frame is stored in an SDRAM 28 and after that, outputted to a monitor 40 through extending processing by a JPEG codec 30. Since compressed image data stored in the SDRAM 28 is no longer required when extending processing of the portion of one frame is completed, data like this is overwritten by following compressed image data read from the card 36. The capacity of the SDRAM can be suppressed by intermittently reading compressed picture data by each frame.
