PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device with which the size of a device main body is reduced by reducing the size of images displayed on a liquid crystal display at the time of viewing the display images through an eyepiece. SOLUTION: This image pickup device is provided with a liquid crystal display 2 provided freely openably and closably to the device main body 1 for functioning as a monitor for direct view in an opened state and as a finder part for leading the display image of the liquid crystal display 2 in a closed state through a light transmission window 5 to the eyepiece. A means for reducing the size of the images displayed on the liquid crystal display 2 when the liquid crystal display 2 is in the closed state is provided.
