PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase generated heat quantity, downside a nuclear reactor containment vessel and improve cost efficiency by supplying heat energy to the outside of the reactor without letting steam outside the reactor. SOLUTION: The heat energy generated from a nuclear fuel in a core 1 is supplied to cooling water 2 to generate steam 17. The generated steam 17 flows upward, becomes a mixed flow 20 of the cooling water 2 and the steam 17 and flows out to an upper plenum 21. The cooling water 2 in the form of droplets and separated steam 22 flow upward further, and gravity allows the former flow to a downcomer 3, The cooling water 2 and the separated steam 22 flow into a heat exchanger 4. The water 26 supplied from the outside to the heat exchanger 4 receives heat and is turned into steam or high-temperature water 27. The steam or the high-temperature water 27 is extracted to be used for room heating and the like. Since such a mechanism supplies heat energy to the outside of a reactor 11 without letting the steam 22 outside it, the flow of the natural circulation from the downcomer 3 to the core 1 can be accelerated.
