PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate address setting action in a slave station and to relieve the processing load of a CPU. SOLUTION: In the communication system, a CPU 22 turns off a gate circuit 21 provided in a slave station 20, on the basis of an input of a start signal from a master station 10 to interrupt the connection between the master station 10 and slave stations 30, 40 of a next stage by a communication call line 12, conducts signal communication between the master station 10 and its own station 20, then turns on the gate circuit 21 after the end of communication to connect the master station 10 and the slave station 30 of the next stage by the communication call line 12. This operation control is conducted by each of the slave stations 20, 30, 40, so as to sequentially connect the master station to the slave stations to enable signal communication among them.
