SUBSTANCE: piston compressor designed for compressing gases has housing with at least one cylinder with mainly horizontal axis, piston reciprocating in cylinder, piston rod one end of which is connected to piston and other end connected with slider moving along guides in housing and reciprocating under action of drive mechanism. Compressor has also bearing device supporting piston/piston rod unit, formed by piston and piston rod connected with piston, relative to housing. Bearing device has source of gas continuously delivery gas under pressure, pipeline connected with source and opening into at least one outlet hole for delivering gas from source into piston-to-cylinder space. Position of at least one outlet hole and pressure of gas delivered from source are so that gas fed to space between piston and cylinder acts onto piston/piston rod unit in upwards direction.
