An X-ray intensifying screen comprises: (a) a support; and (b) at least one active layer coated on the support and comprising a binder and a phosphor corresponding to the formula BaHf1-xZrx(PO4)2 where x is 0-1.0. Also claimed is a radiographic recording element comprising at least one X-ray intensifying screen in operative association with a photosensitive film element.
