A motor vehicle alarm system is arranged to both sound an alarm and transmit a signal which can be received by a bleeper, a mobile telephone or a fixed line telephone. The alarm includes a sensor which responds to the theft of or an attack on the vehicle. The signal transmitted by the alarm may be infra-red or any other digital or analogue signal. In addition to sending a signal the alarm acts to immobilise the vehicle drive and ignition. |
