The device (10) has an inner wall (22) in association with an outer wall (20), whereby both the inner and outer wall are expandable and contractible between and expanded support position, in which support position the outer wall contacts an internal surface of the vessel to be supported and a contracted displacing position where the device is displacable to and from a pre-desired location in the vessel. A releasable locking device is used for releasably locking the device in the expanded support position and/or the contracted displacing position.
