PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid-coating apparatus which can appropriately coat an area supposed to be coated. SOLUTION: A coating head 1 has a coating breadth w in a sub scanning direction. A sensor 5 for detecting a rear end part in a transfer direction of a medium sheet is arranged on the upstream side of the head via a space 3 w. (a) shows the medium sheet while being coated. The medium sheet is sub scanned with a feed amount w for every coating main scan afterwards. b shows a state in which the rear end of the medium sheet approaches a detect area W of the sensor 5. It is recognized at this time point that a distance between a rear end part of a coating area and the rear end part of the medium sheet is 3.5 w. Thereafter, as shown in c, d and e, the coating main scan is sequentially carried out after the normal sub scan of the feed amount w. After e, as shown in f', the coating main scan is carried out after the sub scan with the feed amount of 0.5 w is conducted.
