POROUS CONCRETE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable effective recycling treatment of waste and to obtain concrete having high porosity and showing excellent functions of water permeability and heat insulation by mixing incineration ash as an aggregate for concrete with a viscoplastic binder and curing the concrete while forming continuous voids among the incineration ash particles. SOLUTION: Porous incineration ash (bottom ash) 2 discharged from the lower part of an incineration furnace when waste is incinerated is used as an aggregate for concrete. The bottom ash 2 and a viscoplastic binder 3 such as a cement paste are kneaded and cured to form continuous voids 4 among the incineration ash particles to obtain porous concrete 1. As for the bottom ash 2, ash having at least >=30% particles having >=2 mm grain size is preferably used. The bottom ash produced by mixing and burning waste tires and coal is preferably used. The incineration ash is easily available as an alternative aggregate for granulated stone or silica sand which are becoming hardly available from the viewpoints of protection of nature and depletion of natural resources.
