摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to impart sufficient gloss onto the surface of a sintered coloring material layer by sticking a coloring material containing Cr2O3 and being free from lead onto a pottery and directly firing the painted china pottery while controlling the oxygen concentration in the atmosphere of at least the first half firing zone to a specified concentration. SOLUTION: A pottery stuck with a coloring material containing Cr2O3 and being free from lead is preferably fired by direct heating using a roller hearth kiln. In this firing process of the painted china pottery, the minimum oxygen concentration in the atmosphere is adjusted to >=8 vol.%, preferably 10 vol.%, further preferably 15 vol.% at least at the first half of the firing zone of the painted china pottery, preferably at the temp. that is higher than a temp. lower by 0-100 deg.C than the maximum temp. for the firing. At this time, the temp. range at the first half is preferably set to 800-900 deg.C, preferably 500-900 deg.C. Thereby, the foaming of the coloring material free from lead during firing is prevented and sufficient gloss is formed on the surface of fired coloring material, and further the pottery good in color development and gloss is obtained.
