PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an implement for removing dead leaves capable of effectively shaking off dead leaves on branches of a tree and a method for removing dead leaves using the machine. SOLUTION: At the front end part of a bar shaped body 1 provided with a grip 2 on the basal end part, a vibration generator 4 driven by a power means 5 and an engaging means 3 for engaging with a branch of a tree are placed. This machine is constructed so that a worker holds the grip 2, the engaging means 3 is engaged with a branch of a tree to transmit the vibration of the vibration generator 4 to the branch of the tree, and as a result, dead leaves remaining on the branch are shaken off.
