APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RECORDING/REPRODUCING MPEG BIT STREAM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for recording/reproducing a MPEG bit stream is provided to reproduce a desired data without any additional information on a recorded bit stream by changing a specific portion of an MPEG-2 bit stream to a predetermined program number after inputting the MPEG-2. CONSTITUTION: A recording unit(410) corrects a PAT and a PMT tables when all bit streams are recorded. A TS(transport stream) analyzing unit(412) receives a transport bit stream defined in a MPEG-2 standard and analyzes a syntax to the received transport bit stream. A data processing unit(414) replaces program information initially recorded on a position to a predetermined number in the case that the syntax analyzed in the TS analyzer(412) is a program number defined by a PMT section. A circular redundancy check(CRC) generator(416) computes a CRC value according to the program number changed by a CRC32 of PAT and PMT structures. A reproducing unit(420) reproduces a video bit stream or an audio bit stream included in a corresponding program when the same number as the program number recorded in the recording unit (410) is selected by a user.
